Civil engineering can be described as engineering infrastructures for public welfare. It improves the land at an appropriate level for human activity and research; it involves planning, designing, construction, safety diagnosis, maintenance and overseeing the management of the social overhead capital invested facilities that are necessary for economic development.
Civil engineering is a multidiscplinary subject which focuses on developing and improving human life, especially in the areas of highways and streets, railway, bridges, dams, waterways, harbors and airports, reclamation projects, the formation of engineering complex, farmland improvement projects, housing formation projects, city and regional plan projects, transportation projects, marine development projects, and environmental engineering and waste management.
The Department of Civil Engineering aims to nurture intellectuals to be capable of managing various works flexibly in construction and related business areas by educating them with basic theories and professional knowledge of civil engineering according to ABEEK. Since 2004, our Freshmen students have been enrolled in the ABEEK program, and we have been promoting the introduction of the ABEEK program. Our program is designed to fulfill the industrial demand for practical engineering skills and knowledge. In May 2005 our engineering bachelor’s degree program was approved by ABEEK.

Aim of Advanced Civil Engineering Program
The aim of this program is to contribute to the sustainable growth of the country and regional society by nurturing professional intellectuals in the civil engineering area who will creatively lead the society and industry in the 21st century.
Goal of Advanced Civil Engineering Program
- Nurture intellectuals to be capable of solving engineering problems logically by establishing a strong base in civil engineering knowledge.
- Nurture intellectuals to be capable of conducting complex engineering practices and outlook from a futuristic perspective.
- Nurture intellectuals to respond the rapid changes in society and environment, and gather the necessary information in the global market.
- Nurture intellectuals to be capable of constructing and managing infrastructures in a safe and sustainable manner.
