ݺߣ Fully Implements Its Own ‘Major Curriculum Accreditation System’
-Awarding Certificates and Plaques to Accredited Departments and Majors to Improve the Quality of Major Education
ݺߣ (President Bae Sang-hoon) has officially launched its ‘Major Curriculum Accreditation System’ to enhance the quality of its major education programs.
On February 17, ݺߣ held a ceremony for the award of certificates and plaques for the 2024 academic year at Room 208 of the university’s main building, presenting accreditation plaques to 11 departments and majors.
The “Major Curriculum Accreditation System” is a self-accreditation program established by ݺߣ under the supervision of the Office of Educational Innovation (Director Won Yong-sun). This system systematically evaluates various aspects such as curriculum development and design, course operation and support, and the assessment and improvement of the curriculum. The goal is to enhance the quality of major education, which is the foundation of university education, and to establish a strong foundation for the integration and collaboration of regional and major education, as required by the Glocal University and RISE projects.
Departments and majors participating in the accreditation process will receive financial support and additional points in department evaluations. Upon completing the accreditation, they will be awarded certificates and plaques signed by the president. Graduates from accredited departments and majors will have the accreditation mark on their diplomas. Outstanding departments will also receive rewards in the form of prizes.
Following the pilot project in 2023, where four departments and majors received accreditation plaques, the full implementation of the accreditation system in 2024 led to 11 departments and majors receiving accreditation plaques, bringing the total number of accredited departments and majors to 15. These departments include the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, Department of Japanese Studies, Department of Social Welfare, International Studies Department, Department of Chinese Studies, Department of Fire Safety Engineering, Department of Maritime and Fisheries Management, Department of Food Engineering, Department of Food and Nutrition, Department of Media and Communication, and Department of Information and Communication Engineering.
Director Won Yong-sun of the Office of Educational Innovation stated, “We will continue to work hard to improve the quality of university major education and expand the accreditation system to all departments and majors within the next three years.” <Pukyong Today>
