The Freshmen of the College of Liberal Studies Have Arrived

-First Orientation Held on the 16th …&Բ;Around 600 New Students from the College of Liberal Studies Participated

ݺߣ (President Bae Sang-hoon) held the first orientation for the College of Liberal Studies on January 16th, at the university theater and gymnasium.

As the College of Liberal Studies was established for the first time this year, the event, organized by the College of Liberal Studies (Dean Choi Ho-seok), was held to provide guidance on academic operations and university life ahead of the semester’s start in March.

The College of Liberal Studies allows freshmen to enter without a declared major and choose their major starting in their second year. ݺߣ selected around 900 students, or 30% of this year’s incoming class, to be part of the College of Liberal Studies.

At the event, around 600 participants, including freshmen of the College of Liberal Studies, took part in various activities such as the introduction of the college, guidance on academic systems and university life, and introductions to professors and mentors.

Since this is the first year of the College of Liberal Studies, ݺߣ anticipated challenges such as finding the right major and adapting to university life, and thus established the ‘College of Liberal Studies Guidance Center’ within the College of Liberal Studies last month.

In particular, the university appointed eight deans for the College of Liberal Studies in each college, and also hired five academic advisors to oversee and guide students. Additionally, 73 professors from existing majors are serving as advisors for the College of Liberal Studies.

The event also featured 148 upperclassmen, who formed the major exploration mentorship group, providing mentoring for the new students. These mentors participated in recreational activities with the freshmen in the gymnasium and helped with the preliminary course registration by major, strengthening their bonds.

Dean Choi Ho-seok of the College of Liberal Studies stated, “We have made thorough preparations for the freshmen of the newly established College of Liberal Studies. Starting with this event, we will continue to support students so that they can fully explore their majors and plan their careers and futures.” <Pukyong Today>
